Changing a mistake into an advantage
While I was reading the biography of Steve Jobs, I came across the fact that for one of the first iMac, Apple purposively omit to include a CD burner to comply with the design they wanted.
Some years later, Jobs understood how mistaken he was and how big was his mistake by forgetting to include a CD burner.
This further led to compensate his mistake by being early into the market of MP3 and coming up with the famous iPod that transformed Apple into the giant we now know.
What interests me here was the capacity to transform a weakness into being early into a market.
While most of the entrepreneur would have added a CD burner, Apple stayed on its position and look for other, more innovative ideas.
This could constitute a lesson for everyone here trying to do something they’re failing or are not good at.
Instead of doing what everyone does, copying and trying to have the same results, maybe the solutions are sleeping somewhere else. Somewhere where innovation and pleasure are.
This taught me than when one is failing, maybe looking at your own self is better than trying to copy and comply with others.
